Malaga airport train timetable

Gail: " Hello Mike, Are there any buses from Malaga Airport to Fuengirola in March please?" (2009)

Mike: "Hi Gail, Thanks very much for checking in to www.gomarbella.com

There isn't a bus direct from Malaga airport to Fuengirola bus station, you would have to go all the way into Malaga city to the Malaga bus station then catch the bus from there all the way back past Malaga airport, stopping all the way along before getting to Fuengirola.

But there is a great train service from the Malaga airport train stop to Fuengirola train station, it runs every 30 minutes from 6 in the morning to midnight.

Look here at the timetable of trains from Malaga airport to Fuengirola train station. You will see that the first train of the day leaves Malaga airport at 05.34 then at 4 and 34 minutes past the hour. The last train at 22.34. There is one later train during the summer months.

Does that help Gail? Let me know if I can help at all with other information.

Best wishes for your trip to Fuengirola and thanks again for writing. Mike Drury"

many thanks. lots of last minute hunting through the internet for this and it comes down to a post on a personal blog :) nice to know there's helpful folk still out there

(renfe's own website was useless when i was originally linked to it - they're more interested in selling long-haul tickets to international visitors and keeping them away from the rest of the spanish-language site, it seems)

thanks to this i now know i can happily use the train to get to the airport on sunday even though my flight is quite late. wierdly they run later and more often than the ones across birmingham...

Hi Tahrey

I'm glad the Malaga airport train timetable helped. The Cercanias train between Fuengirola and Malaga airport is a great service. Very punctual and regular trains.

It's a pity the www.renfe.es site is so unwieldy in the English version.

Thanks again for writing in and have a good journey home.

Hi Mike,
I am trying to find out the best and most reasonable way to travel from Malaga to Sabaillinas/Peurto DuQuesa. I am traveling with 3 kids and luggage also. Had to pay 150euro to a taxis last year. Cant afford that. Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Natalie.

Hi Natalie

Sorry about the delay in replying. I thought you were leaving from Marbella and so I checked with the Marbella bus station who could not answer my question about which buses stop at Puerto Duquesa.

They put me onto the Portillo bus company office in Algeciras because Sabanillas is on the border of Malaga and Cadiz.

I was told that three buses a day from Marbella stop at Puerto Duquesa just beyond Sabanillas. These buses leave Marbella at 06.05, 10.00 and 15.30.

As you are leaving from the Malaga bus station you would take the La Linea service from Malaga. Some of the services will stop at Puerto Duquesa, others will only stop at Sabanillas.

If the timings of the Puerto Duquesa stop don't suit you, then get off the La Linea bus at Sabanillas. Puerto Duqesa is a minimum taxi fare from Sabanillas so take a taxi from the Sabinillas bus stop to Duquesa on this last short leg of your journey.

If you are arriving at Malaga airport, then take the shuttle bus to Malaga bus station. There are buses every 30 minutes into Malaga to the bus station.

Copy this address into your browser to get the schedule of buses from Malaga bus station to La Linea:

www.gomarbella.com/costadelsolbuses/index.htm and click on Malaga Bus Station. Look for the La Linea bus schedule.

Sorry again if this has arrived too late for your journey Natalie if not, I really hope it helps you.

Best wishes from Marbella

Mike

Hi Solenge

Thanks for writing in. You will have no problem at all with getting train tickets to go to Fuengirola.

The new Malaga airport train station is now open so when you come out of Arrivals, walk straight out from the door, follow the signs to the train station which is now underground, right next to the airport building and get your ticket from the machine or from the ticket office on the station.

Keep your suitcases next to you on the train where you can see them especially when passengers are getting on and off at the different stops.

The weather is fantastic right now with the sun shining and warm during the day.

Have a great trip and stay in Fuengirola. Best wishes Mike
